Joining the call for gender equality and female empowerment, the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce will host a webinar in celebration of Women’s Day, on 10 March.
Organised in collaboration with the Women’s Chamber of Industry and Commerce (WCIC) and the Victoria Government Trade and Investment, the webinar will focus on female entrepreneurship, including the challenges and opportunities faced by women in business, the state of the circular economy today and the systemic shifts needed to advance in entrepreneurship following the disruption caused by COVID-19.
Commemorated globally on 8 March, International Women’s Day celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, while marking a call to action for accelerating equality for women.
The webinar will feature local and international panellists who will come together to discuss the common challenges faced by women in their entrepreneurial journeys including the impact of economic, demographic and cultural factors, as well as lessons learned and strategies for growing businesses both locally and globally.
The Global Victoria Women’s initiative, which aims to empower women in business to connect, grow and establish global networks to succeed in doing business in international markets, will also be discussed.
The keynote speaker will be Commissioner to South Asia, State Government of Victoria, Australia Michelle Wade. Nayomi Handunnetti – Director, Handun Villas & Restaurants, Founder – The Siren and Co-founder, Elixir Ceylon, Jayomi Lokuliyana – Co-founder and CEO of zMessenger, Trish Messiter – CEO, Clarinox Technologies and Shirley Bastian – Director, MT Food Group Ltd. will join the panel discussion, which will be moderated by Adfactors PR Lanka Ltd. CEO Rezani Aziz.
