The Rotary Club of Colombo North celebrated its 57th installation ceremony in grand style at Cinnamon Lakeside, 8 Degrees, marking another milestone in its illustrious history.
The installation ceremony was graced by Chief Guest District Governor Sushena Ranatunga, accompanied by First Lady Roshini Ranatunga, and Guest Speaker Dialog Axiata PLC Chief Analytics and AI Officer Dr. Romesh Ranawana, who delivered an insightful keynote address.
The installation ceremony, attended by past district governors, the District Governor-Elect, and the District Governor-Nominee, saw the introduction of the 2024/25 Board by President Haneekah Rahil, who was introduced by Installation Committee Chairman Past President Dushyantha Basnayake. President Haneekah also inducted six new members to the club and shared her vision for the upcoming Rotary year, expressing gratitude to her Board, past presidents, senior club members, and the sponsoring Rotaract and Interact clubs.
Further, a significant contribution to the ‘Rotary for Little Hearts’ project was made by Hemamali Basnayake, presented to the District Governor.
The District Governor in his speech highlighted the flagship projects of the Rotary District and touched upon the legacy of the Rotary Club of Colombo North being one of the first 10 Rotary clubs to be chartered in Sri Lanka.
The evening concluded with lively music, dancing, and a raffle draw. The grand prize for the raffle draw was two return air tickets to Thailand, sponsored by Sri Lankan Airlines. The installation ceremony was compèred by eminent Anchor/Reporter Sanuvi Mudannayaka.
