Haneekah Rahil represents Sri Lanka at Commonwealth Youth Leaders’ Summit 2025 in London

Haneekah Rahil, a dedicated advocate for peace, human rights, climate action, and education, represented Sri Lanka at the Commonwealth Youth Leaders’ Summit 2025, held from 3 March onwards at the Commonwealth Secretariat in London, UK. The summit brought together youth leaders from 56 Commonwealth nations for intensive leadership training conducted by top diplomats and experts.

With nearly a decade of global youth leadership and policy engagement, she used her legal expertise to bridge policy gaps in youth inclusion, reconciliation, and sustainable development. At the summit, she served as the Lead for Membership and Engagement at the Commonwealth Youth Peace Ambassadors Network (CYPAN) and was appointed as its Global Coordinator, reinforcing her commitment to peace building across the Commonwealth.

During her time in London, she attended the prestigious Commonwealth Youth Awards at Marlborough House and participated in a panel discussion at Westminster University on peace building and Rotary International’s role. She engaged with key global figures, including Rotary International President Stephanie Urchick, Rotary International Director Eve Conway, Commonwealth Assistant General Secretary Prof. Luis Franceschi, and Rotary Representative to the Commonwealth Judith Diment.

Beyond this summit, Haneekah has represented Sri Lanka at high-level global platforms, including the Commonwealth Youth Ministers Meeting, COP28 as a Rotary delegate, and UN Rotaract Day in Geneva, where she spoke alongside the Rotary International President. As the 57th President of the Rotary Club of Colombo North, a Global Youth Ambassador for TheirWorld, and a Peace Ambassador for the Institute for Economics and Peace, she continues to drive impactful initiatives in education, sustainability, and youth-led peace building across the world.
