Hasaranga from BOC earns doctorate from University of Colombo

Chamal Hasaranga, currently with the BOC Offshore Banking Unit, has recently earned a Doctorate in Business Management from the Management Faculty of the University of Colombo. 

Just passing 30 years of age, Hasaranga had the opportunity of being a Doctorate holder in the bank at a young age. He joined BOC in 2014 as a management trainee after earning his degree in IT Engineering from Coventry University, UK, graduating with second-class upper division honours.

Before joining BOC, Hasaranga worked in NSB Treasury for some time. Over his nine-year tenure at BOC, Hasaranga has honed his expertise in corporate lending and had the opportunity to work at BOC London. 

He obtained his Master’s in International Business in the year 2017 from the University of Colombo. 

As a professional banker, Hasaranga is an Associate Member of the Institute of Bankers (Sri Lanka) and a member of the Association of Professional Bankers (Sri Lanka). His doctoral research focuses on digital banking, a field deemed crucial in modern banking. 

He is the son of former BOC Senior Deputy General Manager P.A. Lionel.
