Hashan Haputhanthri appointed as Alt. Chairman of ICPM

Award-winning, veteran strategist of corporate, marketing, sales, branding, human talent coach, internationally renowned brand philosopher and author, a co-author for many marketing books, Hashan Travis Haputhanthri was appointed recently as the Alternate Chairman of the Training and Development committee of Institute of Chartered Professional Managers of Sri Lanka. 

“It was indeed a surprise for me. I should thank Professor Lakshman R. Watawala (Founder and Chairman of ICPM) and Dilshan Arsakularathna (Director) for approving my name to this prestigious position to be with the dynamic team of the Training and Development committee. 

Also, I must thank Roshan Colas (Chairman of the committee) for proposing my name and Ahmed Hanan for seconding the same. I joined the Institute in 2003 when I was Certified Professional Manager and in 2019, I was baptised as a Chartered Professional Manager and a Fellow of ICPM. It was indeed an honour to be a Chartered Professional Manager where we have a national cause and a reason to develop the upcoming young professionals to take on new age challenges,” said Hashan.

“Under the newly-appointed committee, we are planning to have vibrant events in the future with a complete new look. My mission will be and what I believe is – in business, know how to be a good leader and always try to bring out the best in people. It’s very simple: listen to them, trust in them, believe in them, respect them, and let them have a go!”

Hashan Haputhanthri is the General Manager Sales and Marketing for NeoChem International Ltd., where they are into the B2B arena playing a pivotal role by supplying raw materials and chemicals to food, personal care, polymer and life science. Recently, NeoChem International Ltd. won the Silver award at the SLIM Restart Resilience Award Ceremony. 

Hashan Haputhanthri was instrumental in winning The Prestigious Brand of the Year for TVS Lanka Ltd., with three Gold awards and two Silver Awards at SLIM Brand Excellence in 2016. 

Also, in 2015 he steered TVSL to win the Product Brand Year – Gold with another Gold and Silver Award. He also won Turnaround Brand of the Year Gold for Maliban Biscuits by introducing Maliban Smart Cream Cracker in 2010. 

Also, in 2011 and 2012 he managed back-to-back victory for Maliban Biscuits by securing the SLIM Neilson People’s Award. 

He has won many awards for his work in marketing and branding and was adjudged and conferred as a World Best Marketer in New Delhi. 

In 2012, Hashan became the first Sri Lankan to launch Asia’s Brand Philosophy in New Delhi, co-authored five international books, represented Sri Lanka for many panels in the international stage and also launched the IGNITE philosophy of motivation in 2014 in Singapore.

Hashan was producing results from 1997 to-date immaterial of what the assignment may be and having more than 30 years of brand marketing experience for both food and non-food, Hashan headed brands like Nivea, Maliban Biscuits (instrumental in launching Maliban Smart Cream Crackers) and in Fiji Islands – Sunquick, Weetbics, Royal Tea, Island Chill Mineral water and 30 other major brands. Hashan has done research in Inca, Mayan, Egyptine and Sri Lankan symbology. He has further researched colour psychology and namelogy as well. Brand marketing and non-conventional marketing are his inventions. He has the scripture of Diploma in Strategic Brand Management syllabus for SLIM. 

On 23 January, Hashan became the first Sri Lankan to launch a News Stipka (Pinch of news) by introducing MOCT monthly newsletter to a selected professional and intellectual audience. 

Hashan is a senior marketing, sales and branding lecturer with experience of 15 years both local and international. He has an MSc in Marketing and is a Fellow from SLIM and ICPM. He has been appointed to the advisory panel of India’s largest management Institute – GL Bajaj and Centre of Education and Growth and Research.
