A pioneering Sri Lankan education institute with 16 years in the field, the International Institute of Health Science (IIHS) becomes one of the higher education institutes in Sri Lanka to export education to the region through its most recent partnership with Mianz (MI College) in Maldives, with a MoU signed recently.
MI College, headed by CEO Mottaki and Principal Nizam, has 17 learning centres in Maldives with more centres in Bangladesh and Nepal too. With a student strength of 1800, the College is focused on empowering the youth of Maldives. This collaboration will provide greater access to education for students in the 26 atolls of Maldives.
Over 100 Maldivian students currently follow the Foundation in Biological Science, Advanced Diploma in General Nursing, Bachelors in Nursing and Masters in Nursing in Sri Lanka. This partnership will now allow Maldivian students to complete the IIHS Foundation in Biological Science program, following the successful completion of the Ordinary Level examinations in Maldives. The program, which will be covered over a period of one year, will set the pathway to more diversified courses such as IIHS Advanced Diploma in Nursing, Advanced Diploma in Physiotherapy and Advanced Diploma in Bio Medical Science, where Bachelors pathways exist to Australia, Finland, UK and USA.
“The founders of IIHS built the institute with the vision to export skilled labour. Over the years, through our solid international partnerships IIHS was transformed into an International University Learning Centre (IULC) where foreign program are delivered in Sri Lanka. Due to its accessibility and quality programs, IIHS developed into a regional hub for education. In the most attempt to transform the regional landscape, IIHS is now expanding education to the region by exporting programs. Maldives in the first such country for IIHS programs to be delivered. By the end of 2019 we hope to have accessed many other countries to deliver our international programs”, commented IIHS CEO/Founder/Academic Director Dr. Kithsiri Edirisinghe.
