JCI Sri Lanka was granted potential membership at the JCI 2024 World Congress held in Taiwan. This recognition as a potential member offers tremendous benefits for the youth and leadership of JCI Sri Lanka.

JCI Sri Lanka was revived last year with the creation of the Colombo Midtown Jaycees. This revival was followed by the establishment of additional chapters, including those in Colombo, Colombo Central, Colombo North, and Gampaha, which trace their history back to 1954 when they were first introduced in Sri Lanka. These chapters have remained active since then, even producing a world president in Sen. Isfahani Sameen, who served as the 44th World President of JCI.

During challenging times in 2016, Sri Lanka lost its status and was disaffiliated from the international organisation. However, efforts initiated by the JCI Senate Sri Lanka led to a revival process.

A strong and influential delegation participated at the JCI World Congress. This delegation included past World President JCI Sen. Isfahani Sameen, past JCI Vice President and current JCI Senate Chairman Sen. Malik Cader, and National President Designate Jc. Sandun Weerasinghe, who joined via Zoom. After a rigorous interview process with the admissions committee, JCI granted potential membership status to JCI Sri Lanka. The inauguration of JCI Sri Lanka will be held on 19 January 2025, in Colombo, with participation from the JCI Asia Pacific Development Council members. It is anticipated that all current and past JCI members will take part in this event.
