Moody’s Analytics Knowledge Services (MA Knowledge Services) and the Department of Finance of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura (DFin-USJP) have entered into an agreement to share MA Knowledge Services’ expertise in global investment research and capital markets training. This venture aims to enhance the knowledge and employability of the students of DFin-USJP.

MA Knowledge Services believes its expertise in conducting equity and credit research, including analysing industry attractiveness and financial statements, building financial models, evaluating credit profiles of corporate and sovereign bond issuers, and valuing equity stocks for global investment banks and asset management clients will help deepen USJP students’ understanding of these areas.

In line with the partnership agreement, MA Knowledge Services will conduct training sessions at its premises, which include state-of-the-art training facilities, to share its expertise in areas such as industry analysis and valuation, and to provide USJP students the opportunity to experience corporate culture. MA Knowledge Services will also offer internships and employment opportunities to the best-performing students, subject to the company’s rigorous selection process. In addition, it will share its capital markets-related expertise with the academic staff of DFin-USJP, with the ultimate objective of promoting an active relationship between academic expertise and practical know-how relating to capital markets and investment research.

USJP Vice Chancellor Professor Sampath Amaratunge commented on the partnership, saying, “The common factor between DFin and MA Knowledge Services is very large, and we therefore expect this partnership to be a very fruitful one. Looking forward to working with MA Knowledge Services, and USJP will provide full support to make the partnership successful.”

Professor Hareendra Dissa Bandara, Head – DFin-USJP, commented saying, “This is a very timely agreement, which will mutually benefit DFin and MA Knowledge Services. As the first Finance Department of the country, now we are looking for strong partnerships to strengthen the capacity and standards further. We are happy to work closely with a leading provider of high-value research, analytics and business intelligence like MA Knowledge Services.”

Chanakya Dissanayake, Senior Director and Country Head – Sri Lanka, MA Knowledge Services, stated, “We are proud to say that MA Knowledge Services has grown to its current size in Sri Lanka by providing the services of highly talented local graduates to the world’s leading capital markets participants on Wall Street and in London, Frankfurt, Hong Kong and Singapore. MA Knowledge Services is therefore dedicated to sharing its expertise for the betterment of young talent in premier state and private educational institutions in Sri Lanka. We are also keen to expand our relationship with DFin by actively sharing our capital markets expertise with academic staff members. We already have a recent history of working closely with DFin-USJP, and we are confident that today’s formal signing of our knowledge-sharing agreement will further strengthen our efforts to support DFin and its students.”
