The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) will inaugurate its annual flagship event, The National Human Resource Conference 2019 (NHRC) on 17 and 18 September at the BMICH, under the theme of ‘Radically Reinvented Reality’.
An agenda chock full of keynote addresses by eminent local, and foreign experts in human resource management was announced last week at a media briefing about the conference. Over 1,200 delegates from Sri Lanka, as well as overseas, are expected to participate at the conference.
“The NHRC 2019 has special significance as it is the first conference being held after the receipt of the Charter status. The theme of this year’s conference aims to transform, and position HR to a new standard, taking into consideration the changes being experienced by the industry,” said CIPM President Dhammika Fernando speaking at the media event.
Fernando also revealed that the World Federation of People Management Associations (WFPMA) World Congress 2020 will be held in Sri Lanka, replacing the NHRC for the following year.
CIPM NHRC 2019 Chairman Ajith Bopitiya giving context to the nature of the upcoming conference said that the line-up of HR experts are set to deliver informative, and eye opening presentations to encourage a paradigm shift in the industry.
“We have taken the utmost care to select the most appropriate theme, and selected a list of speakers who are highly qualified, and experienced to share their insights into various HR aspects of the digital economy. The conference participants can look forward to a transformative time NHRC,” he added.
The first day of the conference will consist of the Great HR Practices event, the final round of the Great HR Debate, the awarding of the CIPM Lifetime Gold Award, and the first keynote address by WFPMA Secretary General Bob Morton on ‘HR Mega Trends for a New Era’.
Day two will be convened by a keynote address by Suresh Surenthiran, Direct report to Director for Digital Strategy, and Special Projects at University of Applied Science, and Arts, Northwestern Switzerland, on ‘Empowering Employees Digitally- A Performance Powerhouse’. Following the second keynote will be, concurrent elective sessions.
The concurrent sessions will be followed by a master class conducted by Mercer Senior Consultant Shanthi Naresh on ‘Practical advice to modern HR practitioners in changing times’. The NHRC will conclude with a closing keynote address on the topic ‘New HR Paradigm- A Radically Reinvented Reality’.
The CIPM National HR Exhibition which showcases various solutions, and vendor presentations will be held alongside the conference enabling delegates to get a glimpse of HR related solutions available in the market.
