Naleen Dhammika De Silva was inducted as the 12th President of the Association of Accounting Technicians of Sri Lanka (AAT Sri Lanka) at the official ceremony held at the Auditorium of AAT Sri

The event saw the distinguished presence of professionals, People’s Bank Chairman Sujeewa Rajapakse as the Chief Guest and CA Sri Lanka President Sanjaya Bandara as the Guest of Honour. AAT Sri Lanka Past President Russel Fonseka, Members of the Governing Council, CEO Tishanga Kumarasinghe and many well-wishers graced the occasion.

De Silva holds a Master of Business Administration degree from The Postgraduate Institute of Management, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He is a fellow member of AAT Sri Lanka as well as the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka). He is also an associate member of the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMA Sri Lanka). 

De Silva gratefully records that he completed his articles at B.R. De Silva & Company (Chartered Accountants) and was educated at Ananda College Colombo.

He was nominated as a member of the Governing Council of AAT Sri Lanka by CA Sri Lanka in 2014 and he served as the Chairman of several committees and contributed to their activities to achieve success. He also served in several positions as Chairman, Alternate Chairman, and Member of different committees of CA Sri Lanka.

De Silva has extensive experience in the areas of Strategic Planning, Financial Control, System Development, Treasury Management, Project Coordination, and Administration spanning 23 years, backed by sound professional and academic qualifications. 

His experience includes stints as the Head of Corporate Planning at one of the leading construction companies in Sri Lanka, Group CFO of a Group of Companies engaged in Manufacturing (Poultry and Meat, Animal feed) and Agriculture Industries, Group CEO of a Group of Companies listed in the Colombo Stock Exchange, Finance Director/Group CFO of a Diversified Group of Companies, Finance Director of the leading media group in Sri Lanka, and as the Deputy Director Finance/Project Coordination of a large Property Development Company and its subsidiaries. The Annual Reports prepared under the leadership of De Silva while at Ceylinco Developers Ltd. (Currently, Millennium Housing Developers PLC) was awarded the Best Annual Report Award in “Land and Property Sector” in the years 2003/04, 2004/05, and 2005/06 at the Annual Report Competition organised by CA Sri Lanka.

De Silva was a team member of the Sri Lanka softball champions in 1996-1997 of the limited overs tournament conducted by the Sri Lanka National Softball Cricket Association. He was also the Sri Lanka Soft Ball Federation Treasurer.  Currently, he is the Europe Sri Lanka Karate Do Organisation Vice President. He was also the Old Anandians 89 group President in 2016 and 2017.

De Silva has noted that during the past 34 years, AAT Sri Lanka has been a benchmark of excellence in the professional education sector, training and qualifying its members and students to be outstanding winners who are knowledgeable, capable, and transparent in all that they do. 

At present, with over 6,000 active professional members and 40,000 passed finalists, AAT Sri Lanka has become one of the leading educational bodies in the region that has consistently produced a large number of accounting professionals, much needed for a growing economy.

The new President is determined to turn around and spearhead the growth of AAT Sri Lanka with his expertise in the corporate sector and contribute his perseverance and commitment to the development of middle-level accounting professionals as the 12th President of AAT Sri Lanka.
