Prudential Shipping, Premium Trading & Logistics and Helanka Vacations recently held their prestigious MD’s Award for recognising individuals for exemplary performance during 2021. The event was held at their very own venue, Beacon.
MD’s award winners were selected based on their performance and qualities such as attitude, productivity, commitment, dedication, efficiency and overall contribution to the organisation. Said criteria was measured using a scientific method which included meeting of set KPI’s, comments from the relevant HOD’s and a 360-degree survey within the organisation by a special committee appointed by the Board of Directors.
The Gold Award was won by Finance Manager Vimukthi Silva, the Silver by Assistant Manager – Clearing and Forwarding Mihiran Mendis and Documentation Manager Lakmal Illeperuma was awarded the Bronze.
The Managing Director, Rohitha Mendis speaking at the ceremony mentioned: “It’s a very special day for all of us because we are here now to recognise some of our own team members... for their work performance, for their initiative and proactive approach and most importantly also for their attitude to work, people and towards themselves. Their contribution towards the company in many areas. They have shined. It’s the most coveted award for an employee to be selected as an award winner. What you do has been noticed – and has been noticed by the people you work with and whom you work for.
“Let me also share few words of wisdom for others to think and win the award. This from my own experience. Do your best always, I repeat, always. You have to be good all the time, current time by delivering more than expected. Be efficient and effective. Never compare yourself with any other but compete with yourself and improve. Be a better you than yesterday. Have a very positive attitude towards life, work and others. You cannot go wrong.”
A simple but elegant ceremony was held taking into consideration all given health guidelines due to the prevailing situation.
Category awards for the Peoples Person, Employee with the Most Positive Attitude and the Best Team Player were also awarded at the ceremony, along with service milestones for completing five, 10 and 15 years of service.
