Resilience Reimagined: Insights from IASL HR Conference 2024

The IASL HR Conference 2024, themed “Resilience Reimagined – Thriving through Change”, was a resounding success, attracting over 150 participants from the insurance industry. 

Held at Marriott Courtyard, Colombo on 10 July, the event was conducted under the patronage of IASL President and SLIC Group CEO Chandana Aluthgama, with the presence of the executive committee of IASL and CEOs of the insurance industry. The conference aimed to equip HR professionals with the knowledge and expertise to lead their operations successfully while fostering resilience and adaptability.

The conference was welcomed by IASL HR Subcommittee Chairman, SLIC HR and Administration DGM and CIPM Past President Rohitha Amarapala. 

Key highlights of the conference included a keynote address by Prof. Ajantha Dharmasiri on “Reimagining Resilience”, emphasising the transformative power of resilience in today’s dynamic environment; a presentation by MillenniumIT ESP CEO Shevan Goonetilleke on “Resilience and Change from a CEO’s Perspective”; a session on “Resilience and Change from an Individual Perspective” by former N-able MD and CEO Peter De Almeida; and an engaging panel discussion featuring HR leaders from different industries, Niranjan Perera, Thilini Patabendige, and Kaushal Mendis.

Attendees praised the conference for equipping HR professionals with practical strategies to navigate change and build resilience within their organisations. The event set a new benchmark for resilience and adaptability in the insurance sector, fostering a community of forward-thinking professionals ready to thrive through change.

The conference concluded with a networking opportunity and fellowship for participants and senior officials of insurance sector companies, ending the event on a high note. Concluding remarks were made by the event’s organising committee chairman, Imtiyaz Aniff, who praised the wholehearted contributions of his organising team, including Charitha Bandara, Chalani Gunaratne, Dahami Pathirana, Chamari Amarasinghe, and Thilak Nishantha. 

This collective effort by professionals from competing organisations highlighted the spirit of camaraderie and collaboration within the HR fraternity of the insurance industry.
