Returnees from Korea hold annual gathering

EPS Centre of Human Resource Development Services of Korea (HRD) in Sri Lanka, in collaboration with Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment, organised the Annual Gathering of Returnees on 6 July at the SLBFE auditorium.

The annual program is generally open to all Sri Lankans who have returned from Korea after their successful employment (legal stay) in Korea under the Employment Permit System.

Over 230 returnees from around Sri Lanka took part in the event. Digital Infrastructure and Foreign Employment Minister Harin Fernando participated in this event as the Guest of Honour.

Minister Fernando delivered the commencement address at the function, emphasising the importance of utilising digital infrastructure to contact people who are working in other countries. EPS Centre of HRD Korea in Sri Lanka Director General Kwak Hunjong addressed the gathering by formally welcoming the dignitaries and returnees. Digital Infrastructure and Foreign Employment Deputy Minister Manusha Nanayakkara also participated in the event.

Representing the Korean business community in Sri Lanka, several business organisations such as Nuga Best, Korean Clean Tech Lanka Ltd, Hyundai Construction and Korean Air participated in the event. The event also included a job-fair, with an interview segment and a discussion forum, which saw the participation of Korean employers and returnees who were seeking further job opportunities. Industrial Development Board, Export Development Board, representatives of financial institutes (such as Peoples’ Bank, Bank of Ceylon, Seylan Bank, and National Savings Bank), and SLBFE Marketing Division addressed the gathering and provided information with regard to foreign employment opportunities, skills motivation and required financial guidance.

Samantha were also present at this occasion.
