The Institute of Chemistry Ceylon
Royal Australian Chemical Institute(RACI) CEO Shenal Basnayake visited the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon (IChemC) while he was in Sri Lanka.
He mentioned his plans for Sri Lanka and mapped out a pathway for cooperation between the RACI and IChemC. The event created a unique opportunity for the institute and the country to drive future IChemC activities.
The event was graced by IChemC President Prof. Janitha Liyanage, ANCQ Overall Coordinator and Senior Administrative Executive N.I.N.S. Nadarasa, Registrar Geethanjith Karunarathna, Department of Chemistry Head Dr. Dinusha Udukala, Senior Lecturer Prof. T Gobika, Department of Allied Sciences Head Dr. A.A.P. Keerthi, DLT Director E.G. Somapala, IChemC Past President (22/23) N.H.S. Hettigedara, IChemC Past President (16/17) and visiting lecturer M.R.M. Haniffa, Public Relationship Officer Kasuni Piyawardena, and Teaching Assistant Hiruni Seneviratne.
It was an exceptional success, uniting the institute and fostering collaboration, paving the way for technological advancement and empowerment of the future.

The Australian National Chemistry Quiz (ANCQ) is held every year by the RACI in various countries, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region. The Australian organisation supplies the question papers, multiple-choice answer sheets, and other materials in English.
The RACI has a strong tradition of scientific excellence and is dedicated to advancing the chemical sciences for the betterment of Australia and beyond. It brings together passionate individuals from academia, industry, government, and school science educators who share a common goal: to promote the understanding and application of chemistry for the benefit of society. The RACI acts as a central point for sharing ideas and fostering scientific discovery.
