The Sri Lanka Institute of Credit Management (SLICM) held its prestigious 25th Annual Convocation on Thursday, 11 July, at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH – Main Hall).
The event served as a momentous celebration of academic achievements and excellence within the field of Credit Management, with the gathering of esteemed guests, council members, diplomates, relatives, and invitees.
The Chief Guest for the occasion, University of Sri Jayewardenepura Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM) Director Dr. Asanga Ranasinghe delivered an inspiring address emphasising the critical importance of ethical standards and adaptability in the field of commerce. Dr. Ranasinghe encouraged the diplomates to uphold these principles as they embark on their respective professional journeys, highlighting the role of integrity and innovation in navigating today’s dynamic economic landscape.
SLICM President Jithendra Gunatilake presided over the convocation and in his address expressed pride in the achievements of the diplomates. He underscored SLICM’s commitment in nurturing skilled professionals who are equipped to meet the challenges in credit management with competence and integrity.
A total of 691 students received certificates ranging from Diploma level to Advanced Professional Diploma level in Credit Management, recognising their dedication to academic excellence and professional development. Additionally, 10 new members were inducted into the Fellow and Associate Memberships, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to enhancing their skills and knowledge in the field.
During the ceremony, Colombo Stock Exchange CEO Rajeeva Bandaranaike, and HNB Finance PLC CEO B.M.D.C. Prabhath, were honoured with the distinguished Fellow Membership for their exceptional contributions to the field of credit management.
This accolade reflects their leadership and dedication in advancing the field, serving as inspirational figures for future credit management professionals.
SLICM, established as the national body for credit management under an Act of Parliament, i.e. Act No. 07 of 2000, continues to play a pivotal role in providing high-quality education and training in credit management. Through strategic partnerships with entities like AIA Holdings, SLICM enriches its members with the necessary skills and leadership qualities to excel in the financial sector.
The ceremony concluded with a sense of achievement and determination among the diplomates, who are now prepared to embrace new opportunities and challenges in their careers. Their accomplishments not only highlight personal success but also elevate the standards of credit management across Sri Lanka.
