University of Moratuwa launches lecture series

University of Moratuwa has initiated an Inaugural Lecture Series bringing out newly-appointed Professors to the public view.

The first lecture in the series is by Professor Udeni Nawagamuwa of the Department of Civil Engineering and he will speak on Nature-Based Landslide Mitigation on 29 April at 4 p.m.

The objective is to communicate and inspire with their research and societal impact with of course the intention of generating more interaction and positive connectivity.

To a university academic an Inaugural Lecture is significant, representing a significant milestone in a university academics career when one observes the practice elsewhere. The event celebrates their promotion to the rank of Professor or other Professorship at the university.

The University of Moratuwa Faculty of Graduate Studies is hosting the event as a public event in line with the current restrictions in place. As a hybrid event anyone who is interested can join in and celebrate a career in research as one prepares for even more contribution subsequently.

The Inaugural Lecture will offer both in-person and virtual access through Zoom and Facebook Live. Hopefully the awareness created with State and research institutes, academia and industry would further the cause of university-society partnership for growth.
