Vision Care, Sri Lanka’s largest vision and eye wear solutions provider, celebrated International Women’s Day by dedicating a day to recognise, reward and educate their “visionary women”.
To mark the occasion, Vision Care organised a training session at the Vision Care Academy where employees from its wide branch network were allowed to log in remotely.
The training included an inspiring speech by Sri Lanka’s iconic hair and beauty care expert Ramani Fernando on grooming and etiquette as well as a session on useful tips on how to enhance one’s appearance by being well-groomed.
All female employees of Vision Care were presented with a token of appreciation for their contribution to the company’s growth.
As Vision Care celebrates 30 years of operations the company has made remarkable progress in creating a work environment that treats female employees equally. It is a diverse, equitable and inclusive work environment that is free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination.
Currently, up to 43% of management and operational positions at Vision Care are held by females while the company has outlined plans to increase that to at least 50% by the end of 2022.
Vision Care has an equal pay system for men and women and therefore there is no gender pay gap in the company. It provides equal opportunities for all employees to enter Executive Development programs based on their ability to perform the job and not on the basis of race, gender, creed, politics or other personal characteristics or beliefs.
Training plays a central role in the company’s progress during the past 30 years. The company has designed a comprehensive Training Policy that covers the training and development requirements of all employees irrespective of their gender.
Vision Care is making plans to expand its branch network to selected cities across the island while continuing to set the benchmark for eye care in Sri Lanka by bringing down the best eye and hearing care technologies.
With the opening of new branches, female candidates from those areas will have ample opportunities to gain employment in the company and build a career in the eyecare industry.
