The Colombo Chapter of the Young Professionals Organisation (YPO) successfully organised a two-day workshop on the 28 and 29 September for the youth of Morawaka and Deniyaya in order to develop their soft skills. The program, which saw the participation of close to a 100 participants, covered multiple areas such as personal grooming, general etiquette, tips on how to prepare a CV and techniques on how to face a job interview. The sessions, conducted by specialised trainers in the field of soft skills development, were well-received by the participants. Members of the YPO Colombo Chapter also made a presentation during this event on the opportunities available and the resultant benefits of employment in the private sector, while guiding participants to identify their areas of strength when seeking employment opportunities.
Minister of Ports and Shipping and Southern Development Sagala Ratnayake attended the closing ceremony as the Chief Guest and distributed certificates to the participants.
The YPO represents the interest of young professionals and takes a proactive approach in providing a platform for acquiring knowledge in government policy with regard to economic development as well as a forum to exchange ideas with experts and policy makers in various fields. Chaired by MP for Gampaha District Harshana Rajakaruna, it also plays a key role in empowering the youth of the country to meet the requirements of becoming professionals in the future.
