Deepal Sooriyaarachchi
Management Consultant, Author, Trainer and Speaker Deepal Sooriyaarachchi, will be the presenter at this month’s Wisdom Eve at the Institute of Personal Management on 29 January from 06.00-08.00 p.m. at the PIM Auditorium and his presentation is titled “Inward bound with Deepal for better results.”
Deepal is the author of the book “Inward bound- Mindfulness as an Executive Capability” published in UK and he will introduce the important skill of mindfulness.
Today’s executives are distracted hence less engaged, and stressed hence less productive leave aside the negative health effects. They are less aware of themselves leading to lack of empathy and poor interpersonal relationships. The result is less engaged, stressed out employees who obviously cannot contribute as expected.
Age old wisdom of becoming aware of the reality of here and now offers a simple solution to this complex problem. It is Mindfulness – being able to become aware of thoughts deeds and words of the person allows the person to respond rather than to react. To be able to bring back the mind to the task at hand. Have that inner composure to be sensitive to one self and to others.
Deepal while arguing for the case for bringing Mindfulness in as a key management capability, will introduce the concept and more importantly will share life experiences showing how it can be developed and applied in busy daily life. Deepal will bring the perspective of a successful corporate personality who practices mindfulness in his career and thus will thus speak with conviction from experience.
Deepal teaches principles of mindfulness to leaders to help them improve their personal proficiency and be more effective in their lives and jobs. Previously he has conducted Mindfulness Workshops for corporate executives in Malaysia, USA, Germany, France, Switzerland and Abu Dhabi and is passionate about developing people, and helping his clients align people with strategy.
