ACCA’s efforts to partner with leading academic institutions which will contribute to the improvement of the accountancy profession in Sri Lanka, now further expands its reach in Kandy by joining hands with Imperial College and utilising its Kandy branch as a study centre. This signifies the start of collaborative ventures by ACCA Sri Lanka to offer its qualifications to students in all parts of the country.
Imperial College Director Operations Shanmugam Sivabaskaran stated, “ACCA’s linkages with us will further allow young talented students in Kandy to study the ACCA qualification and have the opportunity to eventually become members and gain the opportunity to work in an important and growing sector whilst building their knowledge and professional skills. We are very excited about working with ACCA on this venture.”
ACCA has had a presence in Kandy since 2012 through its first partner institute in Kandy Neptune Edification who was instrumental in introducing the ACCA qualification to students and has also produced a number of prize winners.
ACCA Sri Lanka Head Nilusha Ranasinghe said that this was one of the many initiatives planned by ACCA in expanding its reach to all the key regions of Sri Lanka.
Explaining their reasons for expansion she further elaborated, “Accountants of today are no more a back office function; but are the driving force of an organisation, facing multiple demands as partners of business operations. Apart from the need to behave and act ethically and professionally, financial management and financial analysis are seen as particularly high-impact areas, followed closely by governance, risk, control, strategic management accounting, corporate reporting, internal audit, tax advice and planning.
“The ACCA qualification has all of these competencies inbuilt into the qualification and is designed to equip aspiring finance leaders with the expertise they need to require to become finance leader in the industry. With our qualification suited to any employment sector and with our strong global footprint and networks that will add value to our students and members in building their career paths, we at ACCA were keen to offer this opportunity to all the talented students of our country in every region.
“Our first learning partner in Kandy, Neptune Edification has done a great job in promoting the qualification. Hence we thought in only appropriate to further expand our footprint in Kandy through a second learning provider Imperial College.”
In addition to Imperial College, ACCA’s accredited tuition providers currently consists of one Platinum status tuition provider and four Gold status tuition providers that includes their first partner institute in Kandy Neptune Edification.
