Accolades for IPM as LMD’s Most Respected entity in education

The Institute of Personnel Management Sri Lanka (IPM), the nation’s leader in Human Resources Management (HRM), was recently recognised by the prestigious LMD magazine as the ‘Most Respected’ entity in the education sector. IPM had the rare and distinguished privilege of being the only education institute to appear in LMD’s list of winners island-wide in this year’s Most Respected Entities list. IPM plays a significant role to uplift knowledge in Human Resources on a national scale in all disciplines, and brings trust and experience gained over a period of over 50 years. This is well reflected in IPM being included in the coveted LMD 2014 most respected entities list as well as the numerous other awards for quality such as the 5S Merit Award for the year 2012 bestowed upon them at the Taiki Akimoto 5S Awards Competition for successfully implementing the internationally accepted 5S safety standard. As a progressive and dynamic organisation, IPM constantly assesses the needs and requirements of managing human capital in order to align its curriculum to these ever changing needs on a national scale. Furthermore, in order to keep abreast of developments in human resources practices from a regional perspective, IPM is engaged in a knowledge exchange programme with its counterparts in India and Bangladesh thereby enriching the knowledge and experience of Sri Lanka’s human resources professionals. IPM opens pathways to the Human Resource Management profession. It is the knowledge centre for local and regional People Managers. As the catalyst and partner in human capital development, IPM continuously improves quality, standards and practices in the profession. IPM was founded in 1959, with the objective of developing the profession of Personnel Management. Subsequently the Institute was incorporated by an Act of Parliament in 1976. With the small beginnings in 1959 the Institute has developed to be the leading Human Resource authority in Sri Lanka. The Institute has contributed significantly to develop and nurture the Human Resource Management profession in the country. The IPM is affiliated to the Asia Pacific Foundation of Human Resources Management and also to the World Federation of People Management Association. IPM, being a professional institute is also a constituent member of the Organisation of Professional Associations (OPA) Sri Lanka. Currently IPM comprises of over 900 Professional Members who serve in both public and private organisations, as well as approximately 7,000 students who follow the diverse programs on human resources offered by IPM and its regional study centres throughout the country.
