As a fitting prelude to 1 May, celebrated worldwide every year as ‘International Workers Day’, Crysbro brought together members of their staff and management, numbering around 900, to a grand celebration at their headquarters in Gampola on 30 April.
Organised by the Crysbro Employees Welfare Society, this was a fun-filled outdoor event with a festive atmosphere, while offering awards, prizes, gifts and tokens, entertainment by popular artistes, together with exciting activities for all, culminating in a grand dinner celebration. As Crysbro Group’s breeding centres, processing plants, factories, mills and farmlands are dispersed across many parts of the island, workers from these areas were transported to the venue and back, adding to their enjoyment and fond memories of the celebrations.
Crysbro Day was graced by Crysbro Group Managing Director Mohamed Imtiaz, members of the Board of Directors, senior management and well-wishers.
Adding a unique touch to the celebrations was the welcome accorded to the invitees by members of the ‘Adhivasi’ community or Veddhas as they are popularly known, who were specially brought over to perform their traditional dance at the event.
The highlight of Crysbro Day was the presentation of brand new houses to members of the staff, who were chosen after a careful evaluation by the Crysbro Employees Welfare Society, who undertook field visits and carried out needs-assessment. Four employees received new houses, while another nine were provided financial assistance to carry out renovations to their homes. Since 2013, Crysbro has offered, as outright gifts, 15 new houses to its employees, with another 22 receiving cash for carrying out renovations.
Long-standing employees, who had completed 5, 10, 20, 20 and 25 years respectively were rewarded with service certificates, cash awards and tokens of appreciation. These awards were given to 61 Crysbro employees who had served the Group loyally over the years. In addition, 15 outstanding performers from the non-executive staff were chosen from 15 departments and rewarded withfully paid outingsfor the whole family, as well as cash prizes.
Continuing its tradition of recognising and rewarding the crème-de-la-crème of its staff, awards and citations were given to the ‘Best Employees’, ‘Best Department’ and ‘Best Salesmen’,with7 winners in the final category receiving all-expenses paid vacations for themselves and their families to a destination in the Far-East, along with cash prizes.
“Crysbro Day has been held for the past many years, bringing together staff members of Crysbro in a show of unity and camaraderie, while rewarding loyalty and promoting engagement, trust and adherence to the core values and principles of Crysbro Group,” stated Mohamed Imtiaz.
