Aspirations International Academy (AIA) partnered with the Sri Lanka Institute of Credit Management (SLICM), the leading institute which offers credit management education in Sri Lanka.
Through this exclusive partnership, Aspirations International Academy will be offering the best opportunity to corporate personnel who wish to obtain the professional Associate of Institute of Credit Management Sri Lanka (AICM-SL) qualification and will grant exemptions in obtaining an international credential from the Institute of Credit Management UK (ICM-UK).
The Sri Lanka Institute of Credit Management was initiated as a pioneering education project which intended to fill a vacuum in the leasing and finance related companies in Sri Lanka. In 2000, the Sri Lanka Institute of Credit Management was incorporated under Parliamentary Act No. 7 of 2000.
Lyle Peiris, Vice President of SLICM and also a Director of Arpico Finance, said, “Over the years, SLICM has trained over 1,500 students from over 100 financial institutions in the country. We have produced well qualified graduates for banks, finance companies, leasing companies and a variety of trading companies since our inception.
“Through the partnership, we not only enhance our capabilities in offering an international qualification for a niche segment in the finance and banking industry, but also provide a qualification in an excellent faculty, an ultra-modern delivery environment and additional English language support in for students who wish to follow the diploma in credit management.”
He added: “We are happy to grant an exclusive private study centre accreditation to Aspirations International Academy, who has within a short period, emerged as a responsible education institute shaping the future of many students and professionals in our country.”
The diploma course in credit management conducted by SLICM covers 10 key areas such as credit management, business law, marketing and economics, business communication with information technology, accountancy and finance, international finance and banking, management principles and HRD. Brindley De Zylva, Secretary of SLICM and also the MD/CEO of Lanka Orix Finance Co Ltd. reiterated, “SLICM was formed to provide personnel with skills in credit management to the banking and non-banking financial services sectors and globally to all businesses providing credit.
“This partnership will open a new array of opportunities to the banking and finance student base in our country. Through synergising the facilities available and the career guidance leadership, we will be able to embed additional value in the present executive.”
Romani De Silva, Treasurer of SLICM and also the MD of Alliance Group of Companies added, “In recognition of the high standards maintained by the SLICM, the Institute of Credit Management UK (ICM UK) has exempted AICM holders from their (ICM UK) examinations and has granted them Associate Membership entitling them to use the affix AICM (UK). This opens global opportunities to our graduates.”
