The Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMA) is the National Professional Management Accounting body in Sri Lanka incorporated by an Act of Parliament No.23 of 2009. The institute boasts a student population of 12,000 and a Membership of 2,100 consisting of associates or ACMA and Fellows or FCMA.

BDO Partners, a member firm of BDO International, the world’s fifth largest network of audit & advisory services firms signed an MOU with CMA as an accredited practical training partner.

The Managing Partner of BDO Sujeewa Rajapakse stated that “training and development provided by the firm helps employees meet their full potential. Performance reviews and other feedback mechanisms are in place to help our students understand what they need to do in order to develop”.

CMA students will be provided with three years of practical training in accounting and auditing as per the PER guide and training circulars issued by CMA to enable the trainee to acquire the professional and technical competence of a professional management accountant. This would enable students to be appropriately skilled to obtain jobs in the private and public sector.

All CMA students who have registered with CMA could obtain their practical training while undertaking their studies. The MOU was signed by BDO Managing Partner Sujeewa Rajapakse, Partner Human Resources Tishan Subasinghe, CMA President Prof. Lakshman R. Watawala and Executive Director CMA L. B. Wattegedara.
