‘Breakout’ Leo Camp 2013 organised by Leo District 306 A1

The Leo movement is the youth arm of Lions Clubs International and is the largest prevailing international youth movement.

The objective of the movement is to promote service activities among the youth within the community, which will develop the individual qualities of leadership, enhance their experience and provide opportunity to blend with the society in a better approach, and to unite its members in friendship, fellowship and understanding.

Leo District 306 A1 as one of the prestigious districts in Sri Lanka organised its most anticipated event in the Leoistic Calendar in the Leo Youth Camp – a residential training camp, bringing together youth from various areas of Sri Lanka. This year it was held from 15-17 February 2013, at the Sarvodaya Training Centre, Bandaragama. Being the largest youth movement in the world, this camp is organised to international standards keeping in line with guidelines.

The camp was named ‘Breakout,’ and consisted of many events during the three days. Bollywood Night, Amazing Race, Camp Fire and many adventure games were conducted by a professional trainer. Camp Chairman District Vice President Leo Jayantha Soysa said: “Leos enjoyed a lot during with the games and sessions planned; it was a camp to remember.”

Among the many awards, ‘The Best Camper,’ the key award, was awarded to Leo Ishanka Nilakshana Vithanage from the Leo Club of Prince of Wales’ College, Moratuwa.
