CA Sri Lanka knowledge fair in Kandy for accounting professionals and students

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) will conduct a series of knowledge disseminating programs this month in Kandy covering a multitude of topics relevant to the accounting profession, in its continuing efforts to empower the professional and student communities across the country.
In its continuing aim to sharpen the knowledge of stakeholders on pertinent topics concerning the accounting sector, CA Sri Lanka will conduct four separate programs targeting accounting professionals and students from the hill capital on 20 and 21 February covering various topics including accounting standards, taxation, information technology and a special seminar on accountancy for advanced level students.
The CA Sri Lanka Knowledge Fair will kick off on 20 February with a seminar on Sri Lanka Accounting Standards for Small and Medium Sized Entities (SLFRS for SMEs) which will be presented by T. Dharmarajah, Partner of Amarasekara and Company. This seminar will be followed by a second seminar also on the same day titled ‘Taxation for Small and Medium Enterprises’ which will be delivered by Mallika Samarasekare, Commissioner General of the Inland Revenue.
The popular student seminar ‘SisuNena’ targeting advanced level students will also be conducted at the Girls’ High School Auditorium in Kandy on 20 February. The seminar targeting students from the commerce stream will be conducted by Saman Bandara, senior lecturer of the University of Kelaniya who will delve in-depth on the accounting standards among various other important areas which are relevant to advanced level students.
CA Sri Lanka will wrap up the knowledge fair with a program giving hands-on experience in computerised accounting (SAGE 50) for the benefit of the accounting professionals and students studying accounting on 21 February which will be conducted by Madura Gamanayake, Managing Director of Perfect Business Solution Services Ltd.
Both the seminar on Sri Lanka Accounting Standards for Small and Medium Sized Entities (SLFRS for SMEs) and IT Workshop – Hands on Experience on Computerised Accounting (SAGE 50) for SMEs are conducted in association with Deutsche Gesellschaftfür Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
The knowledge fair will be a unique platform which will educate stakeholders of the accounting sphere on the various changes witnessed in the recent past, which are both relevant for their day to day business operations, while educating them on the growing trends in the accounting world.
