CA Sri Lanka, SEC to focus on employment regulations and HR policies this week

The ninth session of the Corporate Directors Program jointly conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will focus this week on employment regulations and contracts, human resource policies, employer – employee relations as well as employment laws. The session which will be presented by Franklyn Amerasinghe, Director of John Keells Holdings PLC and CIC Holdings PLC and Consultant of the International Labour Organisation will also touch upon selection retention and succession planning, performance based management and performance based payments, including share ownership and share option schemes. His presentation will be followed by a panel session comprising Ravi Peiris, Attorney at Law and Director General/CEO of the  Employers’ Federation of Ceylon, Naomal Goonewardena, Partner of Nithya Partners and Dinesh Weerakkody, Chairman of Cornucopia Lanka Ltd. Meanwhile, the program’s eight session focused on exchange control regulations and foreign exchange risk management, which saw presentations made by Pavithri Vithanage, Senior Assistant Controller of the Exchange Control Department of the Central Bank and Mangala Boyagoda, Chief Executive Officer of Wealth Lanka Management Ltd, while the panelist for the session was Iftikar Ahamed, Managing Director of Asian Alliance Insurance PLC and Softlogic Capital PLC. The Corporate Directors program kicked off on 26 June 2014. The program which comprises of ten sessions educates directors of listed companies on the important aspects of corporate governance, financial reporting and regulatory aspects, thereby supporting them to effectively manage the affairs of companies for and on behalf of stakeholders.
