CA Sri Lanka workshop featuring Wall Street specialist earns high acclaim

The Mergers and Acquisitions Workshop of the Year organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) which featured a Wall Street mastermind earned high acclaim from participants representing some of the country’s top corporates including leading banks. Top level professions from HNB Assurance PLC, MAS Holdings, KPMG, NDB Bank, York Street Partners, Dialog, NDB Bank, Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Ceylon Pencil Ltd., Mobitel, John Keells Holdings, HSBC, MAS Capital, York Street Partners, Hemas Holdings and FITS Aviation participated at the workshop. J.P.R.V. Karunaratne of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka said that the three day workshop was a great learning experience. “The practical application segment of the workshop was very useful,” he said, while Upul Thennakoon of Dialog noted that the program taught Sri Lankan professionals some new areas in M & A which although were new were also very valid in a Sri Lankan context. Vipula Dharmapala of HNB Assurance PLC said that from the knowledge he gathered at the workshop, he can add further value for all future M & A initiatives. Dharshani Corea of KPMG said that she received good exposure from the workshop which also touched on important areas which are relevant in the current context. “The workshop offered by CA Sri Lanka is timely given that consolidation is  encouraged  by the banking system  in the country,” said SuvendriniMuthukumarana of NDB Bank. Gayathree Abeyrathne of Dialog pointed out that the workshop enabled her to brush up on fundamental analysis while helping her focus on key areas. Rasika Pushpakumara of John Keells Holdings said that the workshop was one of the best. Rashani Senaratne of MAS Holdings said that the workshop laid an important foundation to understand the finer aspects relating to M & A. “There is more that I can now take into consideration in this area after the workshop,” she said. Shiluka Goonewardene of KPMG said that the program was a refreshing learning experience and the case studies added a lot of value.
