CA Sri Lanka’s 29th International Student Conference organised by the CA Students’ Society will be held on 8 April at The Kingsbury.
This year’s conference is themed ‘Train, Ignite, Inspire,’ carving a path for the CA Students to visualise, seek and work towards sustainable development while improving as an individual to meet the competitive corporate world ahead with much vigour and success.
This one-day professional development program focuses on various issues and vital aspects relating to current business and economic environments which goes beyond the traditional classroom work and forms a part of overall education and personal development.
CA Students’ Society (CASS) President Ruchira Perera said: “We are very proud to be part of the 29th International CA Students’ conference schedule for next week in Colombo next week. Over 700 delegates including an international contingent of students from India, Pakistan and Nepal have already confirmed their participation.”
The conference offers prime opportunities for students to interact with a forum of prominent professionals from various business communities. As the premier accounting students’ body of Sri Lanka, the CA Students’ Society is dedicated to promote the highest standards of professional ethics, education, and practice in all business arenas. This prestigious position allows CA Students’ Society to attract over 700 Strategic Level student practitioners to the Conference each year.
At this event, investment and industry experts, corporate executives, and other luminaries will present their perspectives on the changing global economic, political, competitive, and investment environments.
CA Students’ Society General Secretary Prashan Muthugala stated: “Six years later we are having the CA student conference for the 29th time. This is a flagship event for the CA Students’ agenda. It scheduled to be held on 8 April at The Kingsbury. For the first time we have invited international speakers to address the audience. They will be talking about their international experience.”
“We believe that accountancy education should provide multi-disciplinary exposure in order to strengthen the position of the accountant in the corporates,” he added.
Sensei International Partner, Senior Management Consultant Ranjan L.G. De Silva, Macksons Holdings Consultant (Hospitality) Sunil Dissanayake, Association for the Conservation of Primate Diversity Chairman Dr. Wolfgang Dittus and National Development Bank Director/Chief Executive Officer Rajendra Theagarajah will grace the occasion as guests speakers.
With a view to strengthen the relationship between the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, student delegates and other invitees from the South Asian region have also been invited to take part and to present their papers at the conference under the SAFA students’ exchange program.
The conference has historically acted as a magnet for Chartered Accountancy students of major corporate bodies of the country, including both practicing and mercantile firms. Chartered Accountancy Strategic Level students and students from other professional accounting bodies along with several distinguished personalities of the profession will be attending this event.
