CCC joins WorkInSriLanka brain gain efforts to sustain skilled human capital

In order to encourage the improvement of highly educated human capital sustainability and equitably in the country, The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce recently signed a MOU with WorkInSriLanka which is a brain gain initiative launched in May this year.
The main objective of WorkInSriLanka is to promote the country as an attractive destination for professionals and businesses, primarily through the WorkInSriLanka web portal workinsrilanka.lk. Apart from driving this primary initiative, this partnership will enable both parties to open avenues to professionals living abroad and looking to relocate to Sri Lanka.
Commenting on the partnership with WorkInSriLanka, the Secretary General of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Harin Malwatte stated: “The rate of human capital increase is important to a country’s rate of economic development as they are the key determinants of a country’s ability to produce and adopt technological innovations.
“Skilled human capital is required to reshape Sri Lanka’s growth engine. The existing economic environment and security situation will be a favourable factor for Sri Lanka to be one of the preferred destinations for high valued industries.”
He further stated: “As the key voice of the private sector the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce looks forward to work with WorkInSriLanka in this tie up and assist in being a channel to key industries in the private sector by providing a platform for networking and increase connectivity.”
WorkInSriLanka which is an initiative launched by Sl2College, a non-profit organisation, looks forward to increasing the commitment towards brain gain in Sri Lanka through this partnership with the Chamber and its members.
