The 34th National Conference of Chartered Accountants organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) received a tremendous boost recently with one of the country’s leading financial institutions, Citizens Development Business Finance PLC (CDB) coming onboard as a Gold sponsor for the annual flagship event.
This year’s conference will centre around the theme ‘Innovate to Grow’ and will be held from 24 to 26 October 2013 at Waters Edge, Battaramulla, with two-day of technical sessions featuring an expert panel of local and foreign resource personnel who will speak widely on innovation and how innovation can be applied at a professional, corporate and country level.
The conference last year saw a participation of over 1,100 chartered accountants. Meanwhile, organisers are expecting a larger response this year, with the conference expected to be webcasted live across the world for the benefit of those who are unable to attend the conference proceedings due to limited seating space at the venue and for the benefit of members who are working out of Sri Lanka.
At a ceremony held to present the sponsorship cheque, CDB Managing Director/CEO Mahesh Nanayakkara said: “We are indeed privileged to be associated with the 34th National Conference of Chartered Accountants as the Gold sponsor. We look forward to continue this partnership in the future as well. CDB takes this opportunity to wish CA Sri Lanka overwhelming success in all their initiatives.”
CA Sri Lanka President Sujeewa Rajapakse welcoming CDB onboard once again, emphasised that this was a clear indication of the confidence reposed in the institute’s activities by one of Sri Lanka’s leading financial institutes.
“As the national body of accountants in the country, we take it upon our responsibility to provide leadership and insight to the accounting and finance professions in the country, and the national conference is the perfect platform to communicate the need for progression,” Rajapakse said.
Expressing views on the sponsorship, Chairman of the National Conference Committee Lasantha Wickramasinghe noted that the sponsorship by CDB would strengthen the efforts towards elevating the standards of the National Conference to greater heights, thereby setting a new benchmark.
“The national conference of chartered accountants which is held in accordance to international standards focuses on the most pertinent themes featuring the best of local and foreign experts. This year too, every effort has been taken to provide our participants with a very refreshing and edifying experience,” Wickremasinghe added.
Held since 1979, the National Conference is among the Institute’s flagship events and is also one of the most awaited corporate events in the country.
