Chartered Corporate Secretaries Institute registers students for September 2015 Exams

48 students completed the final (Professional Stage II) examinations conducted by the Institute of Chartered Corporate Secretaries of Sri Lanka (ICCSSL). Of these 48, the ICCSSL has subsequently conferred the Chartered Corporate Secretary degree on 16 graduates. The Institute offer lectures, conducts examinations and issues certificates to successful examination candidates. Fully qualified students can then be elected to Associate or Fellow Membership (authorised to use the designatory letters ACCS or FCCS respectively after their name). Our members are eligible to be registered as Company Secretaries by the Registrar of Companies, under the provisions of the Companies Act No. 7 of 2007. The ICCSSL is registered with the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission of Sri Lanka. It is also registered with the Organisation of Professional Associations (OPA) of Sri Lanka and has been classified under the Group of Management Professionals in the OPA. The Institute is also a member of the CISA (Corporate International Secretaries Association) which is a world body of Corporate Secretaries. In terms of prevailing laws, every company must have a Company Secretary. Companies with large turnover require registered secretaries. Thus, there is a clear job role and career path for any Chartered Secretary. Chartered Secretaries can work in both the private and public sector, and with the growth and development both in the market and in the regulatory framework, competent and qualified professionals who can advise the Board are in increasing demand. The different modules of the ICCSSL examinations cover a wide range of subjects so that the qualified graduate will be a professional with the competence and confidence to face Directors, Regulators and senior management and play a role in any Board Room as he or she would have gained a holistic knowledge ranging from business environment, administration and management, business, industrial and company law, corporate, financial and management accounting, capital markets and regulations, company secretarial practice and last but not least the much needed knowledge of corporate governance and practice. ICCSSL is currently registering students keen on preparing for the September 2015 examinations.
