The flagship event of CIMA Sri Lanka, the Business Leaders’ Summit is all geared up to set sail on 16 and 17 June.
The much awaited summit will commence with its inauguration on 16 June, followed by the intellectual connect event on 17 June.
This year the conference is themed ‘Future Defined: Vision, Understanding, Conviction, Agility’. Defining the future of one’s business being the core objective in today’s context, CIMA Sri Lanka will shed light to the key indicators that factor into the success and the progress of businesses and industries. Moreover, the summit will give insights on how leaders can create an impact through performance optimisation in a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous world.
This year’s summit boasts of an outstanding line up of speakers. The keynote address on 16 June will be delivered by Alexander Blass (CEO, Innovation Institute of America). The intellectual connect will include presentations by Dr. Qaisar Abbas (Dean, Faculty of Business Administration COMSAT Institute of Information Technology, Pakistan), Manoj Biswas (MD, Human Resources of Accenture, India), Akmal Hanuk (Founder/CEO, Islamic Banking and Finance Centre, UK) and Michel Nugawela (Brand Consultant, Sri Lanka).
All of these prominent corporate and academic leaders will share their very own tested and proven techniques that are essential to survive and thrive in the future. The intellectual connect has two panel discussions under the topics ‘Refining ideologies – Defining capabilities’ and ‘People Processing – the Organisational Recipe’, followed by a Q&A session.
The summit will also be introducing a young entrepreneur, filmmaker and author Varun Agarwal to the line up of speakers. At the age of 27 he has three companies to his credit – Alma Mater, Reticular and Last Minute Films. Varun will disclose his secrets to becoming a young millionaire through his presentation titled ‘The Unthinking Model’. He will share success stories from India, which is increasingly becoming a hub of young entrepreneurs. The key reasons that factor the sudden boost of start ups in India, for which the total investment in 2014 alone had come up to about 2.7 billion dollars, will be discussed and compared with the business environment in Sri Lanka.
Also adding to the assortment of speakers is CIMA Regional Director for Africa Samantha Louis, who will take on the stage to bring forth one of history’s greatest stories. Samantha’s presentation will chart the journey of a nation divided to a future united. South Africa is a country that surfaced from the ashes of a prolonged war and its long walk to freedom could not have been possible without the great leader and the visionary: Nelson Mandela.
Samantha will discuss the role of Mandela in uniting the country, bringing out the essence of the eminent leadership. She will touch upon the critical turns of the government and how a strong and visionary leadership could navigate the country to a better and prosperous future.
The countdown for this ‘not to be missed’ flagship event of the CIMA calendar, has started with less than a handful of tickets left to go. We are expecting to see a diverse crowd of business leaders from all around the country converging together at the conference to share and enhance their experiences and knowledge.
