CIMA Sri Lanka to hold business skills workshop

The CIMA Sri Lanka Division will hold a full-day business skills workshop titled ‘Write to succeed: sharpen your writing skills’ on Saturday 2 March 2013 at the CIMA auditorium.



Dhanan Senathirajah who will lead the workshop is a double professional being a fellow member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, UK and an Attorney At Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka. He functions as the Vice President of Finance and Planning at the National Development Bank PLC. He is a member of the International Faculty of Haggai Institute for Advanced Leadership Training, Hawaii, USA, where he facilitates in Financial Stewardship and Writing skills.

Workshop leader Dhanan commented: “Improving your writing skills may take some time and effort, but it will benefit you for the rest of your life. Not only will you present a more professional and intellectual side of yourself, but you can also win more business. And you’ll spend less time explaining and clarifying, and more time working, earning, and enjoying life.”

Writing is an essential communication skill and professionals in every walk of life will be assessed on their ability to convey information clearly in written form. Acquiring good writing skills will help one to deliver information powerfully, persuasively and professionally that will attract attention and quick action.

This workshop is aimed at those who are keen to develop their writing skills to succeed.

A very practical program, starting from the basic principles of writing, one will be able to unlock his/her potential to write. They will also discover the thrill of writing and develop a passion for it.

Content of the workshop includes why write?; advantages of writing; the SMART principles of effective writing; the 3Ps of written communication; the 7Cs of effective written communication; the writing process – preparation, drafting the text and revising and editing; various types of writing activities – essays, letter writing, book writing and publishing, opinion moulding, speech writing, netiquette and writing on electronic media
