CIMA students can obtain BBA Special (Hons) Degree (Accounting & Finance) at SLIIT

Students who have completed CIMA, now stand a chance to earn a BBA Special (Hons) degree specialising in Accounting and Finance in just 18 months at SLIIT, the premier degree awarding Institute in Sri Lanka. Students who like to obtain this esteemed qualification can register now for the June intake.
CIMA qualified students, have the opportunity to enter the final year of the SLIIT BBA Special Honours Degree Program, enabling them to not only have a professional qualification but also an academic qualification. The modern Business Management calls for a multi-disciplinary approach. Hence while specialising in a subject discipline, the final year will focus on a year long supervised research project, which will enhance student’s research skills to help find solutions to business issues.
“Knowledge of Accounting and Finance is essential to manage a business. A good understanding of the fundamentals is required to keep pace with the rapid changes and increasing complexity of modern business; especially in the Accounting and Finance disciplines,” noted SLIIT President and CEO Professor Lalith Gamage. The Special Degree program allows students to acquire an in-depth knowledge in Finance and Accounting.
Elaborating further he said, “Electives that are available in the final year will allow students an avenue for further specialisation in a selected field. The main beneficiaries of this initiative are the students who would be able to earn a dual qualification.”
Interested students are required to have completed CIMA, pass in any three subjects at the G.C.E A/L examination in one and the same sitting and complete the bridging modules of SLIIT Business Management Program in the first semester.
This collaborative arrangement between CIMA and SLIIT provide a faster track for students to acquire a business degree, right after completing CIMA, a professional qualification that prepares students for a challenging career as professionally qualified management accountants, equipped with a business degree. SLIIT, approved by the University Grants Commission under the Universities Act, is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities and International Association of Universities (IAU). SLIIT offers Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Computing, Business, and Engineering.
