CIRP, British Association of Business Psychologists offer ABP-accredited MSc in Business Psychology

Colombo Institute of Research & Psychology became the first strategic partner of Association of Business Psychologists outside United Kingdom. This would allow professionals in the areas of business psychology, training, HR, marketing and branding and other related areas to obtain different levels of membership of ABP based on their academic credentials and expertise.guhd

The MSc in Business Psychology awarded by Coventry University is accredited by ABP therefore the students who study this program at CIRP are eligible for ABP membership upon completion. This is the first time an ABP accredited program is offered in Asia.

Business psychology is the scientific study of how psychological theories and skills can be applied to different areas in a business organisation to improve productivity and efficiency of the organisation, while enhancing the satisfaction and quality of work life of the individuals involved. This discipline, also referred to as organisational, industrial, work or occupational psychology, is one of the latest trends in the corporate sector as organisations are moving away from traditional HR and management theories into more strategic, research based and advanced, tools and methods.

This area of study is instrumental in helping businesses become more effective and profitable, whilst improving employees’ well-being and performance.

MSc in Business Psychology offered by Colombo Institute of Research & Psychology and awarded by Coventry University UK, is a one year postgraduate program that is designed to provide knowledge and skills in terms of how to apply psychological theories and models to different aspects of an organisation. The course provides a sophisticated understanding of applying psychology in business settings, including understanding consumer behaviours, employee engagement and the impact of globalisation on organisational behaviours. This program extends through three semesters; the first two semesters include taught modules whereas in the final semester the students will work with their supervisors on their respective research projects.

This qualification is an internal Master’s Degree offered by the Coventry University, UK, where CIRP is the teaching institute.

The program is delivered by several qualified and skilled lecturers from Sri Lanka and the UK who have had years of experience in both the business and academic fields. An example of a lecturer who will be particularly visiting Sri Lanka from the University of Southampton, UK is Prof. Sri Kandiah who is also the Module Leader for Leadership Engagement and Motivation.

This qualification is recognised locally, as the awarding body of the program, Coventry University is recognised by the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka via the Association of Commonwealth Universities. Moreover, Coventry University is ranked 15th in the UK by the Guardian University Guide 2016 and thus possesses worldwide accreditation and recognition of all its degree programs by professional and public bodies internationally. The course is also accredited by the Association of Business Psychology in the UK and is designed for both local and international students.
