CMI Sri Lanka’s inaugural management quiz powered by Dialog Enterprise

The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) UK is the only chartered body for the profession of Management with over 90,000 members. CMI is committed to uplift the professionalism of managers in order create ‘Better led and better managed organisations’.
Being one of the eight countries in the world to have their own branches of CMI, the Sri Lanka branch set up in 1996 has been in the forefront championing the CMI vision and have carried out many activities towards uplifting the professional standards of Sri Lankan managers.
Having noted the growing enthusiasm for quizzing in Sri Lanka and with the intention of promoting and enhancing the knowledge on Management as a subject among our professionals, CMI Sri Lanka Branch has made arrangements to organise the CMI’s first ever management quiz to be held in Sri Lanka on 14 June 2014 at the JAIC Hilton Residencies.
CMI Sri Lanka is privileged to team up with International Quizzing Association (IQA) Sri Lanka, that has been conducting many table quizzes over the past decade and all questions for this inaugural Management Quiz will be set up by IQA’s country representative for Sri Lanka based on the standards of the World Quizzing Association.
Dialog Enterprise will be the main sponsor for this quiz while Prudential Shipping Lines will be the co sponsor supporting this ground-breaking initiative by the Chartered Management Institute whilst Daily FT has joined as the Print Media Sponsor.
The event will take the form of a team quiz, where the Quiz Master will read out the question, twice over and the team members will discuss among them and decide on the answer and write it on an answer script. There will be five rounds of questions with 10 in each round. These will also include visuals/video clips based questions and will cover the following focus areas;
History/Development of Management as a Science, Management Concepts and Practices, Famous Personalities in Management, Management Literature and Entertainment (Movies, Books, Documentaries etc), Famous Corporations and Institutions, Current Affairs and Enterprise solutions.
CMI has decided to open this quiz for teams from professional education institutes, banks, finance companies and insurance companies, government organisations, ict companies and audit firms, other mercantile sector companies, BPO companies and teams formed by other quiz enthusiasts
The winners will be presented with a Cash Award of Rs. 150,000 and the ‘CMI Management Quiz 2014’ Trophy while the runners up will receive a cash prize of Rs. 100,000 and a trophy followed by a prize of Rs. 50,000 for the 3rd placed team.
As the competition will have to be limited to a maximum of 50 teams, applications are now being accepted by CMI Sri Lanka on a first come first served basis.
