Colombo Toastmasters Club hosts Danajaya to bring out ‘The Champion within You’

The Colombo Toastmasters Club will host world champion Dananjaya Hettiarachchi on 14 October at the Galadari Hotel from 5:15 p.m. onwards to bring out ‘The Champion within You’. Dananjaya will be featured at an inspiring presentation in which he will share the ingredients which made him, who he is as well as the recipe for his success as in becoming a champion.

In whichever field, profession or practice one is, Dananjaya is deemed to bring out the champion within oneself. He became the first Asian to win the global toastmasters contest in its 75 year history. In that competition Danajaya spoke of those around him who encouraged and supported him, helping him to continue pursuing his dream – to be the World Champion. In his speech, with its trademark “I see something in you,” he spoke of those who identified his potential and encouraged it, those people who looked beyond the troubled and rebellious youth he was, and saw the man he could be. Some key learning points at the 14 October event will include: The power of association: The mentor-mentee relationship and how it substituted formal and structured education and its impact on his speaking career and its relevance to corporates today; understanding the process that creates a champion and using those same lessons to excel in one’s personal life; communicating to different audiences and unfolding a universal message; Local to international – the process of reinventing yourself consistently to appeal to global audience; and winning the audience over and creating an executive presence on stage.
