By Cheranka Mendis Providing an opportunity for students to find the best possible educational qualifications of their choice and a chance for educational institutes to interact freely with a large base of potential students on a mutual platform, software development company InfoCraft Ltd. has launched the thestudent.lk – a website that markets educational institutes while offering students competitive rates in the market. Established in August last year, thestudent.lk is a website that offers over 40 courses from 26 institutes at present. The expectation is to increase this to 50 courses by April this year, Business Development Executive Pasindu Siriwardena said. Siriwardena noted that the hit count within three months exceeded 18,000 views and that both institutes as well as students can register on site and interact with each other. Educational institutes can sign up and receive login privileges through which they can update courses and programs through the administration panel. “A separate fee will be charged if they want t to advertise on the side panels or banners,” he said. For institutions, a log in price of Rs.2000 wiill be charged initially. For students, there are discount courses offered as well, especially through the site, some even going up to 50%. “We are looking at expanding the number of institutes offering courses at discounted rates, and the percentage as well.” Students who register for courses on the website will receive automatic ID cards which will be emailed to the student, upon which they can print it and take to the university. “We offer everything,” asserted Project Manager Rashad Dheen. They offer from AAT, accounting and finance, arts and design, aviation, business management, career guidance, chartered accountancy, CIMA courses, computer hardware, computer science, computer security, construction, dancing, electrical, engineering, fashion, human resource, IT and software development, logistic, management, marketing, multimedia and animation, nursing and even O/L and A/L tuition. The most popular courses so far have been in IT, HR, hotel management and accountancy. On InfoCraft, Dheen noted that the company provides IT infrastructure support and maintenance services to customers with a sustainable competitive advantage. “From this side, we are taking care of the e-marketing avenue and are even introducing a mobile app for android smartphones on Google Play for thestudent.lk.” Students and interested institutions can log on to www.thestudent.lk for more details.
