The Edex Mid-Year Expo 2014, aimed at empowering Sri Lankan youth to be globally competitive in their school to work transition, will take place on 30 and 31 August at the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre.
EDEX Exhibitions along with the Job Fair are aimed at showcasing tertiary education, skills and career advice and brings together the supply and demand of labour. This will be the third event organised by EDEX Expo for the year.
Students have an opportunity of having an array of queries addressed, from many recognized Tertiary Educational Institutes, Vocational and Skills Development Institutes and Corporate Entities that will be brought together in one location.
A more comprehensive coverage of all issues that may challenge students entering the labour force will also be tackled at the Mid-Year Expo from admissions to selected academic, vocational, technical and professional courses and post graduate programmes offered by both local and foreign institutions such as ANC Education, NIBM-NSBM, Royal Institute Colombo and Nawaloka-Swinburne, and Villa College while The British Council will represent an array of universities from the United Kingdom.
Furthermore discounted course fees, full or partial scholarships and other offers with financial support options will enable students to fast track their career paths in an affordable manner. There will be over 145 stalls represented by 85 exhibitors including representatives from universities in 11 countries at this year’s Expo.
Mid-Year Expo, Project Chairman Nandun Chandrarathna commented on his expectations of the outcome of this event saying: “This year’s Mid-Year Expo will be organised in a convenient location creating a larger arena for the youth and their parents to meet some of the best brands in education, with each student’s aspiration in mind. This Expo will be catalyst in making the dreams of many youth a reality.”
Students will be able to interact and forge relationships with their future employers at the Job Fair 2014 which was not part of the Mid-Year line up last year. It has now been included to address an issue constantly faced by HR professionals of finding the right person for the job and will feature 42 stalls represented by over 20 corporates showcasing global employment trends, provide professional career guidance and resources leading to gainful employment for discerning Sri Lankan youth.
