As part of their continuing efforts to be more customer focused, The Employers’ Federation of Ceylon ( EFC) yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Standard Chartered Bank, to have one of their Industrial Relations Advisors based at the bank’s premises offering employment relations services. The Employers’ Federation of Ceylon (EFC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Standard Chartered Bank to provide in-house consultancy services to the bank through one of its own Industrial Relations Advisors. In addition to obtaining day to day advice from the EFC, the bank requested that it provides this in house service once a week for a given period of time. The EFC is now in a position to provide this service to other members as well, recognising that more companies would need guidance and advice to their HR departments on a more regular basis. EFC Director General Ravi Peiris commenting on this new service said: “We have always been sensitive to the needs of our members. We see an opportunity for us to provide this direct service to certain members who need it. We would be in a position to provide our expertise to strengthen procedures and systems or even set up a HR division in a company that needs it. We believe that this new service will be mutually beneficial to us as well as member organisations and would add capacity and value to both.”
