We plan to launch the research support fund at this year’s reunion and this will be small beginning of a much longer journey to support engineering innovations in the country.
“It is expected to be a great opportunity for engineers from various generations to re-establish contacts and network. The outcome of such collaborations will no doubt enhance their collective contribution to the Sri Lankan society. This is a very timely initiative. Being an engineering graduate from University of Moratuwa, I look forward to meet my batch mates as well as fellow engineers from both universities, said Eng. Eng. Nihal Rupasinha Chairman of Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau (CECB) which employs more than 800 engineers and Patron of Mora Pera Engineers Reunion representing Peradeniya Engineers, commented, “In our professional lives, we build concrete bridges and robust power or communication networks. I believe as engineers, we need to build stronger bridges between leading engineering institutions and create influential professional networks among engineers in order to facilitate greater collaboration. As we are aware, larger percentage of Sri Lankan engineers work and live aboard. Building a global engineers network is a timely and commendable objective of Mora Pera Engineer’s Reunion initiative.”
