Eran Wickramaratne to speak at ‘TMC Members Meet’ on 25 March

The last ‘Members Meet’ held on 25 February was indeed a successful gathering with over 35 members participating to listen to the short but interesting presentation by Ever Jobs LK Managing Director Tayab Hassan on social media. Thereafter the presenter with over 25 members and some of their guests moved to the Lobby Bar for both interaction and camaraderie. The management of the Galadari Hotel extended the ‘Happy Hour’ from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. by way of 50% discount on beverages and the usual 20% discount applicable for the Management Club.
This same arrangement will continue on every last Wednesday of each month creating an opportunity for members to listen to a reputed speaker on an interesting subject and then retiring to the Lobby Bar for a Meet and Greet session of the members and their guests. On Wednesday 25 March, the Club will have the honour of listening to a presentation by Deputy Minister of Investment Promotions, Higher Education and Highways Eran Wickramaratne who will speak on ‘Good Governance and Good Corporate practices’ from 7:30 p.m. to 8:10 p.m. after which, the members will be invited to the Lobby Bar.
Eran Wickramaratne, an Economist by training, is the Treasurer of the United National Party. He holds a Degree in Economics and Politics and a M.Sc. in Economics from the University of London. He has been trained in various aspects of management and negotiations at Oxford University’s Business School, Harvard Business School and amongst others and is an Eisenhower Fellow.
Deputy Minister Wickramaratne began his professional career at Citibank. Whilst his pinnacle in banking may well have been as CEO at National Development Bank (NDB), by 1999, he had already made a name for himself as the Vice President of the Citibank. Under his stewardship NDB was transformed to become one of Sri Lanka’s most successful financial institutions.
However, in 2010, at the zenith of his banking career, he decided to respond to a call of his conscience giving up his lucrative banking career to serve his country as a politician. He entered politics when people of Sri Lanka were disillusioned and cynical with the political process and their elected representatives. The Management Club is privileged to have the Deputy Minister to speak to the Management Club members and guests.
