Participants of the Investment Analysis Training Program conducted by Amba Research received certificates of completion at a graduation ceremony held at the auditorium of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC).
The certificates and results transcripts were awarded to the participants by SEC Deputy Director General Dhammika Perera and Amba Research Country Head and Director Chanakya Dissanayake.
At the ceremony, Amba announced that they will award six participants of the program employment opportunities at the company. These employment opportunities will offer further training in investment note writing and on-the-job experience.
The Investment Analysis Training Program is endorsed by the SEC and has also received accreditation from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka), the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA, UK), and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA UK), as a continuous professional development program for membership.
The SEC granted 56 scholarships to 14 state universities (4 scholarships for each university) for selected students to participate in the Investment Analysis Training Program conducted by Amba Research, as a part of the SEC’s capital markets training initiative.
The first batch commenced the program on 3 August 2013 and completed it on 27 September 2013. The participants included final-year university students and finance professionals. The participants followed a real-life investment analysis cycle, which included analysing the competitive dynamics of a given industry, building detailed earnings models, and establishing a defensible valuation range using multiple methods.
Chanakya Dissanayake commented: “We are very pleased with the 90% pass-out rate from the first batch of the Investment Analysis Training Program. We look forward to welcoming more like-minded applicants to the program.”
Dhammika Perera said: “Investor education is an important aspect in the capital markets industry to ensure transparency and smooth functioning of the market. Programs such as Amba’s one will support this cause in furthering the knowledge of finance professionals in Sri Lanka. We look forward to following the progress of this program.”
