Thinking about the future to help create the finance and accountancy leaders of tomorrow is a key theme of the third Middle East, North Africa and South Asia (MENASA) Learning Providers’ Conference, organised by ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants).
The two-day conference features comments from Higher Education Minister S.B. Disanayake in the first day’s opening session. The keynote address is being delivered by Russell Guthrie, Executive Director, Professional Relations and Chief Financial Officer at the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).
This year the conference is being held at the Cinnamon Grand hotel in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on 17 and 18 June and will encourage tutors in the region to look at enhancing their skills further; strengthening business partnerships; leveraging technology; and teaching ACCA.
Representatives from SKANS School of Accountancy, CamEd Business School, Mercury Institute of Management, Becker Professional Education, Kaplan Professional Education, Standard Chartered Bank, the Education and Curriculum Development Task Force in Sri Lanka, BPP Professional Education, Becker Professional Education, EY Academy, Phoenix Financial Training Ltd, CAMS – College of Accounting & Management Sciences, and Al Mihad Educational Institute, will also be participating.
ACCA Sri Lanka Head Nilusha Ranasinghe said: “Our learning providers do a fantastic job in the region of ensuring our students are up to the high standard that ACCA expects of them, before they enter the financial world of work. This conference aims to enhance this teaching, and to ensure they are up to speed with the latest syllabus and other matters now and in the future.”
ACCA’s Regional Director – MENASA Stuart Dunlop said: “We want to ensure our students are complete finance professionals when they qualify. They have to be ready for any tasks that may be given to them by their employers. The ACCA qualification enables our students to be adaptable because they have a wide range of skills to meet the needs of their employers.”
