HRP Sri Lanka strengthens ties with SHRM USA

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) USA conducted its annual conference and exposition at the Convention Centre, Las Vegas, NV, USA from 28 June to 1 July.

Keynote speeches, mega sessions, master classes, concurrent and general sessions were the highlights of the conference delivering contemporary and futuristic HR knowledge to 15,600 participants from all over the world.

A special breakfast meeting was hosted by the SHRM Board Chairman and global CEO at the Encore Hotel, for the Asian delegates to discuss HR trends in the region and how best to leverage SHRM support in the region. Achal Khanna, CEO SHRM India, was also in attendance at the meeting.

The Sri Lanka delegation was comprised of office bearers and representatives of the Association of HR Professionals. Sri Lanka’s activity report was presented by the President of the Association of HR Professionals, L. Chiranthi Cooray.

SHRM USA is the world’s largest professional, not-for-profit Human Resource association. It has over 275,000 members in 160 countries. SHRM’s mission is to support the HR professional and advance the HR profession through globally recognized certifications, collaborative communities, comprehensive resources, research, professional development opportunities, academic alliances and advisory services.

The Association of HR Professionals (HRP) is a forum where Sri Lankan HRM professionals meet, fraternise and exchange contemporary HR concepts and best practices. HRP works towards the betterment of the profession, corporate businesses and the nation at large.

The members of HRP are senior human resource professionals from the country’s largest and prestigious organisations. Providing professional development, an arena for networking, a focus for legislative intervention in national HRM issues and the sharing of experiences to establish HRM as a dominant force and discipline in the business and state sector; and thereby to establish HRM as the catalyst to achieve efficiency, productivity and sound management form HRP’s founding fundamentals.
