During a recent official visit to Sri Lanka, International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) President Olivia Kirtley visited the Head Office of the Institute of Certified Management Accountants (CMA) of Sri Lanka in Colombo 4.
IFAC, the global body of accounting profession, represents over 2.84 million accountants worldwide covering 175 professional accounting organisations in over 130 countries. CMA of Sri Lanka is a full member of the IFAC.

IFAC grants membership only to accounting bodies that conform to its stringent Statement of Member Obligations. This includes holding a good standing in the country of operation, financial and operational viability, possession of appropriate structure and internal operating system that could provide support to students and regulate its members, educational standards and continuing professional development, ethics and disciplinary codes are some of the key requirements to be met by members.
Kirtley was a special guest at a meeting of the CMA Council Members where she explained about the role of IFAC, discussed about the progress of CMA and the contribution made for the development of the management accounting profession in Sri Lanka and the propagation of management accounting and cost control in the private and public sector.
Professor Lakshman R. Watawala, President of CMA, Basheer Ismail, Vice President, and Council Members H.M. Hennayaka Bandara, Adrian Perera, Dr. Senaka Kelum, Ruchira Perera, L.B. Wattegedara, Consultant, and Russel Guthrie, CFO and the Executive Director of the IFAC were present at the meeting.
The IFAC President was presented with a plaque to mark her visit to the CMA Sri Lanka Head Office.
