Ministry of Labour, the ILO Assistant Director General and Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific, Tomoko Nishimoto
At the invitation of the Ministry of Labour, the ILO Assistant Director General and Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific, Tomoko Nishimoto, will make her first official visit to Sri Lanka from 8 to 15 August.
During her trip to Sri Lanka, Nishimoto will meet Secretary to the President P.B. Abeykoon and the Secretaries of the Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Policy Planning and Economic Development, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Employment and other Senior Government Officials. The ILO Assistant Director General is scheduled to hold talks with the Director General of the Employer’s Federation of Ceylon and Trade Union leaders.
During her visit Nishimoto will have meetings with the UN Country Team and some development partners.
Nishimoto has had more than 28 years of experience in sustainable development. Prior to joining the ILO in January, she had held senior management positions in UNDP, UNICEF and UNEP, and had worked in seven different countries as well as at agency headquarters. She holds an MA in International Relations from Sophia (Johchi) University in Tokyo, Japan and a BA from Kobe University in Kobe, Japan.
