IPM in search of HR excellence

The National HR Conference 2013, organised by the Institute of Personnel Management, Sri Lanka (IPM), was officially announced at a press briefing on Monday evening, held at the Taj Samudra Hotel, Colombo.

The briefing was presided over by the key personnel involved with the National HR Conference (NHRC): President IPM, Air Vice Marshal Rohitha Ranasinghe; CEO IPM, Dyan Seneviratne; NHRC 13 Organising Committee Chairman, Shanaka Fernando; Technical Committee Chairman, Dr. Ajantha Dharmasiri; HR Service Providers’ Exhibition Committee Chairman, Maj. Gen. Rohan Kaduwela, HR Awards Committee Chairman, Rukmal Bandaranayake and HR Debate Committee Chairman, Bathiya Hettiarachchi.

IPM CEO Dyan Seneviratne, welcoming the guests at the event, emphasised on IPM’s role as the leading HRM training institute in the country, the theme ‘People Drive Business’ and the knowledge and skills provided by the institute. Further details on IPM, substantiating its prerogative, were provided by IPM President Air Vice Marshal Rohitha Ranasinghe.  

Addressing the briefing, NHRC 13 Organising Committee Chairman, Shanaka Fernando, announced that the NHRC 13 would be held on Tuesday 18 and Wednesday 19 June 2013, at Waters Edge, Colombo.

Fernando also revealed the agenda of the conference as well as the guests and guest speakers who have been invited by the IPM to take part in this event. Some high profile internationally and nationally acclaimed celebrities such as Prof. Dave Ulrich, Prof. Uditha Liyanage, Dr. Anura Ekanayake, Ameer Ahmmed, Anoja Weerasinghe, Nathan Sivagananathan, Shakti Ranatunga, Sunil Dissanayake and Gordon Beckham are expected at the event.

Technical Committee Chairman Dr. Ajantha Dharmasiri, revealing this year’s conference theme, ‘In Search of HR Excellence,’ explicated the theme, and its significance, by drawing attention to the importance of HR in achieving excellence at an organisational level. Dr. Dharmasiri also highlighted the key sessions hosted at this year’s conference – the four technical sessions, which have been specifically designed to inspire participants with innovative approaches towards best HR policies, practices and processes.  

Providing further particulars of the NHRC 13 were HR Awards Committee Chairman, Rukmal  Bandaranayake; HR Debate Committee Chairman, Bathiya Hettiarachchi; and HR Service Providers’ Exhibition Committee Chairman, Maj. Gen. Rohan Kaduwela. Their respective sub-events: National HR Excellence Awards 2013, Great HR Debate 2013, and HR Service Providers’ Exhibition 2013, are predicted to be some of the most thrilling, entertaining, and most awaited events at the NHRC 13.
