The Institute of Personnel Management (IPM) launched its revamped website on 13 December 2013. The new website will allow visitors easier navigation and will focus on four different types of users: students, IPM members, prospects, and existing users.
This new and improved version uses concept of the emerging trend: ‘info graphics’ to present browsers and visitors with a pleasing visual layout, providing required information through graphics, moving away from mostly conventional ‘photos’ which slows the process that takes up much ‘bandwidth’.
One of the main foci of IPM’s new website is the student portal, which allows students to find their ideal course focusing on the subject, location or qualification. Available courses can also be searched for using keywords. The portal also provides a filter mechanism, through filter tabs, allowing students to narrow down the options available according to the students’ interests.
Online help for browsing the site is provided through a helpful animated character that appears on the top banner allowing for an easy and fun browsing session. All information pertaining to each course can be found under the respective courses categorized under the colour coded tabs. Students at the IPM are provided with a logging-in facility where they can view the course-alerts, events calendar and other opportunities available for them. This arrangement also allows students to directly communicate with the administrative staff of the institution.
The portal for IPM members is also a key component in the new site. This portal allows for members to log-in, to browse for opportunities, alerts and events calendar. Members can also correspond with the institution’s administration through the website and share information pertaining to job opportunities and other announcements.
IPM consultancy services are also highlighted through the new site where services provided, information regarding consultants, and other information such as case studies can be browsed and searched for with ease. The website also offers other services such as lecture hall booking, reservations for upcoming events such as seminars and workshops, researching through publications, and library book search.
The new revamped IPM website is a virtual representation of effective structured nature of the institution and the services it provides. The revamping of the website is also part of the progress towards the institution’s new direction as the local and regional trend-setter for innovative HRM and HR development in all its facets.
